increasetirewearandmaydamagedrivelinecomponents.The
4x4ONmodeisintendedforuseonlyonconsistentlyslippery
orloosesurfaces.
Ifyourvehicleisequippedwiththis4x4system,asparetireof
adifferentdiameterthantheroadtiresshouldneverbeused.
Suchatirecouldresultindamagetodrivelinecomponentsand
makethevehicledifficulttocontrol.
WARNING: Utilityandfour-wheeldrivevehiclesarenot
designedforcorneringatspeedsashighaspassengercarsany
morethanlow-slungsportscarsaredesignedtoperform
satisfactorilyunderoff-roadconditions.Avoidsharpturnsor
abruptmaneuversinthesevehicles.
4x4 system indicator lights
The4x4modeindicatorlightilluminatesonlyunderthefollowing
conditions.Iftheindicatorlightilluminateswhendrivinginthe4x4
AUTOmode,contactyourMazdadealerassoonaspossible.
Theindicatorlightilluminateswhenthe4x4ONmodeisengaged.
Shifting between 4x4 Auto and ON modes
Pressthefour-wheeldrivecontrolto
applypowertobothaxles.When
youactivatethecontrol,the
indicatorlightwillilluminateinthe
instrumentcluster.
LOCK
Whenyoupressthecontrolagain,
4x4AUTOisactivatedand,theindicatorlightwillturnoff.
Eithershiftcanbedoneatastoporwhiledrivingatanyspeed.
Driving off-road with 4x4 Auto
Yourvehicleisspeciallyequippedfordrivingonsand,snow,mudand
roughterrainandhasoperatingcharacteristicsthataresomewhat
differentfromconventionalvehicles,bothonandofftheroad.
