Fuel filler cap
Fuel filling
To avoid any sudden discharge of fuel caused
by excessive air pressure, the cap is designed
to allow the fuel tank to vent during the first
half turn.
Filling station pumps are equipped with
automatic cut-off sensing to avoid fuel
spillage; DONOTattempt to fill the tank
beyond this point or spillage could result due
to expansion of the fuel.
WARNING
The reduced diameter filler neck accepts
ONLYa narrow filler nozzle of the type found
on pumps that deliver unleaded fuel.
DONOTOVERFILL!
DONOTfully remove the cap until pressure
has been released.
WARNING
Place the cap in the retaining bracket on the
rear of the flap whilst refuelling. Unless
absolutelynecessary, the fuel filler cap should
not be removed unless the vehicle is standing
on levelground.
DONOTfully fill the tank if the vehicle is to
be parked in direct sunlight or high ambient
temperature - expansion of the fuel could
cause spillage.
NOTE: When refitting, tighten the fuel filler
cap clockwise until you hear the fuel cap
ratchet click three times. If the cap is not fitted
correctly, the ’Service Engine Soon’warning
light may illuminate.
