Vehicles fitted with Satellite Navigation
CAUTION
Avehicle with automatic transmission
cannot be restarted by pushing or towing.
If the engine fails to start when using a
donor battery or starter/charger, wait for
approximately 2 minutes after the starter
switch is turned off, BEFOREdisconnecting
the donor battery or starter/charger -
irreparable damage to the navigation
computer may occur.
The ONLYrecommended methods of
restarting a vehicle with a discharged battery
are:
•
The use of a substitute batteryfitted to the
disabled vehicle.
•
The use of booster cables to connect the
batteryfrom a donor vehicle to the
discharged battery.
On vehicles fitted with Satellite Navigation, the
navigation computer remains on for
approximately1 minute after the starter
switch is turned off. During this time, the
computer carries out a memory back-up
procedure. It is ESSENTIALthat the donor
batteryor starter/charger is NOTdisconnected
while this back-up procedure is being carried
out.

Always wear appropriate eye protection
when working with batteries.
Before disconnecting the donor batteryor
starter/charger, ensure that the navigation
computer has switched off by waiting for 2
minutes and checking that the ’Power ON’
LEDon the navigation computer (located on
the right hand side of the luggage
Batteries emit explosive hydrogen gas -
keep sparks and naked lights away from the
engine compartment.
Make sure BOTHbatteries are of the same
voltage (12 volts), and that the booster
cables have insulated clamps and are
approved for use with 12 volt batteries.

the navigation screen will remain blank the
next time the system is turned on, and the
navigation computer will need to be replaced.
DONOTconnect positive (+) terminals to
negative (-) terminals, and ensure booster
cables are kept away from any moving parts
in the engine compartment.
Take care when working near rotating parts
of the engine.
