Seat belt locking mechanism
The seat belts fitted to the front passenger
seat and two outer rear seats, have a special
locking mechanism, which aids the securing
of child restraint systems. The mechanism
used to secure a child restraint is operated as
follows:
To turn off the child restraint seat belt locking
feature, allow the seat belt to fully retract.
The centre rear seating position is fitted with a
lap belt which can be manuallytightened to
secure the infant or child restraint system.
Older children should use the lap/shoulder
belt fitted to the outer seating positions.

Attach the seat belt to the child restraint in
accordance with the manufacturer’s
instructions.

Insert the metal tongue of the seat belt
into the lock ensuring that it engages with
a ’click’.

Pull on the shoulder section of the belt
until it is fully extended.
Allow the belt to retract. A’clicking’sound
will confirm that the mechanism has
engaged.

Remove slackfrom the mechanism, by
pulling upwards on the shoulder belt,
immediatelyabove the child restraint.
Evaluate the tightness of the installation by
rocking the child seat back and forth to
ensure that it is tight and stable.
If the child seat needs to be tightened
further, remove the metal tongue of the
seat belt from the buckle and feed some of
the shoulder belt back into the reel(thus
making the belt shorter). Then reattach the
metal tongue into the buckle (if done
properlyit will require some effort).

Re-evaluate the tightness of the system. If
the child seat is too loose, repeat the
above procedure making the belt
incrementallyshorter (and therefore
tighter). It may be necessary to put your
weight onto the seat (to compress the seat
cover) to be able to fasten the belt.
