whilst it may be difficult to deter the
professional’car thief, the majorityof thefts
are carried out by unskilled opportunists.
Therefore, take vehicle securityveryseriously
and ALWAYS adopt this simple ’four point’
drillwhenever you leave your vehicle - even
for just a few minutes:

If a breakdown occurs whilst travelling:-

Wherever possible, consistent with
safetyand traffic conditions, the
vehicle should be moved off the
main thoroughfare, preferablyonto
the shoulder as far as possible. If a
breakdown occurs on a freeway, pull
well over to the inside of the hard
shoulder.

Fullyclose all the windows (and the
sunroof).

Remove your valuable belongings (or hide
them out of sight).

Remove the starter key.

Switch on hazard lights.
Superlockthe vehicle using the remote
handset.
If possible, position the warning
triangle (located on the underside of
the loadspace floor panel - see

vehicle a less inviting target.

deserted or dimly-lit side streets.

Do not keep important documents (or
spare keys) in the vehicle - these are a real
bonus for the thief.
