sectioninthischapter)foryourtypeofengineandrearaxleratio.

Weighyourvehiclewithoutcargo.Toobtaincorrectweights,takeyour
vehicletoashippingcompanyoraninspectionstationfortrucks.

Thisisthemaximumtrailerweightyourvehiclecantow.Itmustbe
belowthemaximumtrailerweightshowninthechart.
SubtractyourloadedweightfromthemaximumGCWRinthechart.
TRAILER TOWING
YourvehiclemaytowaclassI,IIorIIItrailerprovidedthemaximum
trailerweightislessthanorequaltothemaximumtrailerweightlisted
foryourengineandrearaxleratioonthefollowingcharts.
Yourvehicle’sloadcapacityisdesignatedbyweight,notbyvolume,so
youcannotnecessarilyuseallavailablespacewhenloadingavehicle.
Towingatrailerplacesanadditionalloadonyourvehicle’ sengine,
transmission,axle,brakes,tiresandsuspension.Inspectthese
componentscarefullyperiodicallyduring,andafteranytowingoperation.
ExceedingthemaximumGCWRcouldresultinextensivedamage
toyourvehicleandpersonalinjury.
DonotexceedtheGVWRortheGAWRspecifiedonthe
certificationlabel.
