slowerspeedsandincreasedstoppingdistanceshouldbetakenwhen
drivingaheavilyloadedvehicle.
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OPERATION
Brake-shift interlock
Thisvehicleisequippedwithabrake-shiftinterlockfeaturethatprevents
thegearshiftleverfrombeingmovedfromP(Park)whentheignitionis
intheONpositionunlessbrakepedalisdepressed.
IfyoucannotmovethegearshiftleveroutofP(Park)withignitionin
theONpositionandthebrakepedaldepressed:
1.Applytheparkingbrake,turnignitionkeytoLOCK,thenremovethe
key.
2.
Removetherubberpadatthe
bottomofthecupholdertolocate
theaccesscapofthefloorshifter
assembly.
3.
Usingascrewdriver(or
equivalent),removetheaccess
panelanddepresstheshifterlever
ontheshiftmechanism.
4.
5.
ApplythebrakeandshiftintoN(Neutral).
Returnthecoverplugtotheconsoleaccesshole.Startthevehicle.
Ifitisnecessarytousetheaboveproceduretomovethegearshiftlever,
itispossiblethatafusehasblownorthevehicle’sbrakelampsarenot
operatingproperly.RefertoFusesandrelaysintheRoadside
Emergencieschapter.
Donotdriveyourvehicleuntilyouverifythatthebrakelamps
areworking.
Alwayssettheparkingbrakefullyandmakesurethegearshiftis
latchedinP(Park).TurntheignitiontotheLOCKpositionand
removethekeywheneveryouleaveyourvehicle.
