Oiloverheatcanbetriggeredinseveredrivingconditions,suchas
towingheavyloadsovermountainousterraininextremehot
temperatures.Asoiltemperatureincreases,engineandvehiclespeed
willbelimited.Thetransmissionwillalsoshiftdifferently.
Whentheengineoilhascooled,thevehiclewillperformnormally.
Whenfail-safecoolingmodeisactivated
Youhavelimitedenginepowerwheninthefail-safemode,sodrivethe
vehiclewithcaution.Rememberthattheengineiscapableofcompletely
shuttingdownautomaticallytopreventenginedamage,therefore:

Pullofftheroadassoonassafelypossibleandturnofftheengine.
Arrangeforthevehicletobetakentoanauthorizeddealer.
Ifthisisnotpossible,waitapproximately15minutesfortheengineto
cool.

Checkthecoolantlevelandreplenishiflow.Lookforcoolantleakage
intheenginecompartmentandunderthevehicle.
Neverremovethecoolantreservoircapwhiletheengineis
runningorhot.

Restarttheengineandtakeyourvehicletoanauthorizeddealer.
Drivingthevehiclewithoutrepairingtheengineproblem
increasesthechanceofenginedamage.Takeyourvehicletoan
authorizeddealerassoonaspossible.
FUEL FILTER
Forfuelfilterreplacement,seeyourauthorizeddealer.Referto
scheduledmaintenanceinformationfortheappropriateintervalsfor
changingthefuelfilter.
ReplacethefuelfilterwithanauthorizedMotorcraftpart.The
customerwarrantymaybevoidforanydamagetothefuelsystem
ifanauthorizedMotorcraftfuelfilterisnotused.
