Roadside Emergencies
Whenawheelisinstalled,alwaysremoveanycorrosion,dirtor
foreignmaterialspresentonthemountingsurfacesofthewheel
orthesurfaceofthewheelhub,brakedrumorbrakediscthat
contactsthewheel.Ensurethatanyfastenersthatattachtherotorto
thehubaresecuredsotheydonotinterferewiththemounting
surfacesofthewheel.Installingwheelswithoutcorrectmetal-to-metal
contactatthewheelmountingsurfacescancausethewheelnutsto
loosenandthewheeltocomeoffwhilethevehicleisinmotion,
resultinginlossofcontrol.
Note:Ifthereiscorrosionontheareawherethewheelcontactsthe
hub,applyathinfilmofgreaseoranti-seizecompoundonthatarea.
JUMP STARTING
Thegasesaroundthebatterycanexplodeifexposedtoflames,
sparks,orlitcigarettes.Anexplosioncouldresultininjuryor
vehicledamage.
Batteriescontainsulfuricacidwhichcanburnskin,eyesand
clothing,ifcontacted.
Donotattempttopush-startyourvehicle.Automatic
transmissionsdonothavepush-startcapability;doingsomay
damagethecatalyticconverter.
Preparing your vehicle
Whenthebatteryisdisconnectedoranewbatteryisinstalled,the
transmissionmustrelearnitsshiftstrategy.Asaresult,thetransmission
mayhavefirmand/orsoftshifts.Thisoperationisconsiderednormaland
willnotaffectfunctionordurabilityofthetransmission.Overtime,the
adaptivelearningprocesswillfullyupdatetransmissionoperation.

Useonlya12–voltsupplytostartyourvehicle.
Donotdisconnectthebatteryofthedisabledvehicleasthiscould
damagethevehicle’selectricalsystem.

Parktheboostervehicleclosetothehoodofthedisabledvehicle
makingsurethetwovehiclesdonottouch.Settheparkingbrakeon
bothvehiclesandstayclearoftheenginecoolingfanandothermoving
parts.
4.
Checkallbatteryterminalsandremoveanyexcessivecorrosionbefore
youattachthebatterycables.Ensurethatventcapsaretightandlevel.
