Forvehicleswithoverflowcoolantsystemswithanon-pressurizedcap
onthecoolantrecoverysystem,addcoolanttothecoolantrecovery
reservoirwhentheengineiscool.Addthepropermixtureofcoolantand
watertothe“FULLCOLD”level.Forallothervehicles,whichhavea
coolantdegassystemwithapressurizedcap,orifitisnecessaryto
removethecoolantpressurereliefcapontheradiatorofavehiclewith
anoverflowsystem,followthesestepstoaddenginecoolant.
Toreducetheriskofpersonalinjury,makesuretheengineis
coolbeforeunscrewingthecoolantpressurereliefcap.The
coolingsystemisunderpressure;steamandhotliquidcancomeout
forcefullywhenthecapisloosenedslightly.

Beforeyoubegin,turntheengineoffandletitcool.
Whentheengineiscool,wrapathickclotharoundthecoolant
pressurereliefcaponthecoolantreservoir(atranslucentplasticbottle).
Slowlyturncapcounterclockwise(left)untilpressurebeginstorelease.

Stepbackwhilethepressurereleases.
4.
Whenyouaresurethatallthepressurehasbeenreleased,usethe
clothtoturnitcounterclockwiseandremovethecap.

Fillthecoolantreservoirslowlywiththepropercoolantmixture(see
above),towithinthe“COLDFILLRANGE”orthe“FULLCOLD”levelon
thereservoir.Ifyouremovedtheradiatorcapinanoverflowsystem,fill
theradiatoruntilthecoolantisvisibleandradiatorisalmostfull.
6.
Replacethecap.Turnuntiltightlyinstalled(until“clicks”areheard).
(Capmustbetightlyinstalledtopreventcoolantloss.)
Afteranycoolanthasbeenadded,checkthecoolantconcentration,refer
toCheckingenginecoolantsection.Iftheconcentrationisnot50/50
(protectionto–34°F/–36°C),drainsomecoolantandadjustthe
concentration.Itmaytakeseveraldrainsandadditionstoobtaina50/50
coolantconcentration.
Whenevercoolanthasbeenadded,thecoolantlevelinthecoolant
reservoirshouldbecheckedthenextfewtimesyoudrivethevehicle.If
necessary,addenough50/50concentrationofenginecoolantand
distilledwatertobringtheliquidleveltotheproperlevel.
Ifyouhavetoaddmorethan1.0quart(1.0liter)ofenginecoolantper
month,haveyourauthorizeddealerchecktheenginecoolingsystem.
Yourcoolingsystemmayhavealeak.Operatinganenginewithalow
levelofcoolantcanresultinengineoverheatingandpossibleengine
damage.
