Haveyourseatbeltschangedimmediatelyifthepretensionerorloadlimiterhasbeen
expended:
Oneorbothfrontairbagsmaydeploy,andthecorrespondingpretensioner(s)may
alsodeployatthesametime.Whileitissafertouseacrash-usedseatbeltthatwas
usedinanaccidentthannoseatbeltatall,usingaseatbeltwithanexpended
pretensionerorloadlimiterloadedreducesthesafetyavailabletoyou.Liketheair
bags,theseatbeltpretensionerswillonlyfunctiononce.Aftertheyareexpended,they
willnotfunctionagainandmustbereplacedimmediately.Iftheseatbelt
pretensionersarenotreplaced,theriskofinjuryinacollisionwillincrease.Always
haveanAuthorizedMazdaDealerinspecttheseatbeltpretensionersandairbags
afteranycollision.Expendedseatbeltpretensionersandairbagsmustbereplaced
afteranycollisionwhichcausedthemtodeploy.Additionally,theloadlimiterwillonly
limitloadsonthechestonceinacollisionandthisisanotherreasontohavethefront
seatbeltsinspected.
Makesuretheseatbeltisnotcaughtorpinchedinthedoor:
Wearingaseatbeltthatiscaughtorpinchedinthedoorisdangerous.Theseatbelt
couldbecomelooseandnotprovideadequateprotectioninasuddenstoporcollision.
Makesurenothingisplacedontheseatbeltslidebar:
Placingyourfootorotherobjectssuchasanumbrellaontheseatbeltslidebaris
dangerous.Thefrontseatbeltisbuiltintothereardoor,andthelowerpartoftheseat
beltslidesforwardorbackwardalongtheseatbeltslidebarasthereardooropensor
closes.Iftheseatbeltsliderisblocked,theseatbeltcouldbeimproperlypositioned
andwouldprovidelittleornoprotectioninacollision.
CAUTION
Beltretractionmaybecomedifficultifthebeltsandringsaresoiled,sotrytokeepthem
clean.Formoredetailsaboutcleaningtheseatbelts,referto“CleaningtheLap/Shoulder
BeltWebbing”(page8-47).
