asmentionedabove.Inaddition,thefrontpassengerairbagisdesignedtoonlydeployin
accordancewiththetotalseatedweightonthefrontpassengerseat.Fordetails,refertothe

qSideAirBags
Thesidebagsaremountedintheoutboardsidesofthefrontseatbacks.
Whentheairbagcrashsensorsdetectasideimpactofgreaterthanmoderateforce,the
systeminflatesthesideairbagonlyonthesideinwhichthevehiclewashit.Thesideair
baginflatesquicklytoreduceinjurytothedriverorfrontpassenger'schestcausedby
directlyhittinginteriorpartssuchasadoororwindow.Inaddition,thefrontpassengerside
airbagisdesignedtoonlydeployinaccordancewiththetotalseatedweightonthefront
passengerseat.Fordetails,refertothedriverandfrontpassengeroccupantclassification
system(page2-63).
A side air bag will deploy only on the side the
vehicle receives the force of the impact.
