qDriverSeatSlidePositionSensor
Yourvehicleisequippedwithadriverseatslidepositionsensorasapartofthe
supplementalrestraintsystem.Thesensorislocatedunderthedriverseat.Thesensor
determineswhetherthedriverseatisforeoraftofareferencepositionandsendstheseat
positiontothediagnosticmodule(SASunit).TheSASunitisdesignedtocontrolthe
deploymentofthedriverairbagdependingonhowclosethedriverseatistothesteering
wheel.
Theairbag/seatbeltpretensionersystemwarninglightflashesifthesensorhasapossible
malfunction(page2-35).
qPassengerSeatWeightSensors
Yourvehicleisequippedwithapassengerseatweightsensorsasapartofthesupplemental
restraintsystem.Thesesensorsarelocatedunderbothofthepassengerseatrails.These
sensorsdeterminethetotalseatedweightonthepassengerseat.TheSASunitisdesigned
topreventthepassengerfrontandsideairbagsandseatbeltpretensionersystemfrom
deployingifthetotalseatedweightislessthanapproximately30kg(66lbs).
Toreducethechanceofinjuriescausedbydeploymentofthepassengerairbag,thesystem
deactivatesthepassengerfrontandsideairbagsandalsotheseatbeltpretensionersystem
when:
Thereisnopassengerinthepassengerseat.(Thepassengerairbagdeactivation

indicatorlightdoesnotilluminate.)
Thetotalseatedweightonthepassengerseatislessthanapproximately30kg(66lbs).

Thissystemshutsoffthepassengerfrontandsideairbagsandseatbeltpretensioner
system,somakesurethepassengerairbagdeactivationindicatorlightilluminates
accordingtothefollowingtable.
Theairbag/seatbeltpretensionersystemwarninglightflashesandthepassengerairbag
deactivationindicatorlightilluminatesifthesensorshaveapossiblemalfunction.Ifthis
happens,thepassengerfrontandsideairbagsandseatbeltpretensionersystemwillnot
deploy.
