LOCKpositionevenifyouarenot

leavingthevehicle.Leavingthekey

thevehiclesecuritysystemsandrun
thebatterydown.
Leavingthedriver'sseatwithout
puttingtheignitionswitchinLOCK
position,settingtheparkingbrake
andshiftingtheshiftlevertoPwith
anautomatictransmission,orto1or
Rwithamanualtransmissionis
dangerous.Unexpectedvehicle
movementcouldoccur.Thiscould
causeanaccident.

WhentheignitionswitchisturnedtotheON
position,thesoundofthefuelpumpmotor

START
Theengineisstartedinthisposition.It
willcrankuntilyoureleasethestartknob;
thenitreturnstotheONposition.The
brakewarninglightcanbecheckedafter
theengineisstarted(page5-40).
NOTE
Ifturningtheignitionswitchisdifficult,

jigglethesteeringwheelfromsidetoside.

Theignitionswitchcannotbeturnedfrom
theACCpositiontotheLOCKposition
whentheshiftleverisnotinP.

Thesteeringwheelunlocksandsome
electricalaccessorieswilloperate.

functionintheACCposition,andthedoors
willnotlock/unlockusingthetransmitteror
requestswitcheseveniftheadvancedkeyis
carriedawayfromthevehicle.
