WARNING LIGHTS AND CHIMES
Warninglightsandgaugescanalertyoutoavehicleconditionthatmay
becomeseriousenoughtocauseexpensiverepairs.Awarninglightmay
illuminatewhenaproblemexistswithoneofyourvehicle’sfunctions.
Manylightswillilluminatewhenyoustartyourvehicletomakesurethe
bulbworks.Ifanylightremainsonafterstartingthevehicle,refertothe
respectivesystemwarninglightforadditionalinformation.

enginesoonindicatorlight
illuminateswhentheignitionisfirst
turnedtotheonpositiontocheck
thebulbandtoindicatewhetherthevehicleisreadyfor
Inspection/Maintenance(I/M)testing.Normally,theserviceenginesoon
lightwillstayonuntiltheengineiscranked,thenturnitselfoffifno
malfunctionsarepresent.However,ifafter15secondstheserviceengine
soonlightblinkseighttimes,itmeansthatthevehicleisnotreadyfor
I/Mtesting.SeetheReadinessforInspection/Maintenance(I/M)
testingintheMaintenanceandSpecificationschapter.
SolidilluminationaftertheengineisstartedindicatestheOnBoard
DiagnosticsSystem(OBD-II)hasdetectedamalfunction.RefertoOn
boarddiagnostics(OBD-II)intheMaintenanceandSpecifications
chapter.Ifthelightisblinking,enginemisfireisoccurringwhichcould
damageyourcatalyticconverter.Driveinamoderatefashion(avoid
heavyaccelerationanddeceleration)andcontactyourauthorizeddealer
assoonaspossible.
WARNING:Underenginemisfireconditions,excessiveexhaust
temperaturescoulddamagethecatalyticconverter,thefuel
system,interiorfloorcoveringsorothervehiclecomponents,possibly
causingafire.
