Applytheparkingbrakewhenever
thevehicleisparked.Tosetthe
parkingbrake,presstheparking
brakepedaldownuntilthepedal
stops.
TheBRAKEwarninglampinthe
instrumentclusterilluminatesand
remainsilluminated(whenthe
ignitionisturnedon)untilthe
parkingbrakeisreleased.

thatthegearshiftissecurelylatchedinP(Park)(automatic
transmission)orin1(First)(manualtransmission).
Note:Theparkingbrakeisnotrecommendedtostopamovingvehicle.
However,ifthenormalbrakesfail,theparkingbrakecanbeusedtostop
yourvehicleinanemergency.Sincetheparkingbrakeappliesonlythe
rearbrakes,thevehicle’sstoppingdistancewillincreasegreatlyandthe
handlingofyourvehiclewillbeadverselyaffected.
Pullthereleaselevertoreleasethe
brake.
