AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE OPERATION
Brake-shift interlock
Thisvehicleisequippedwithabrake-shiftinterlock
featurethatpreventsthegearshiftfrombeingmoved
fromP(Park)unlessthebrakepedalisdepressed.
IfyoucannotmovethegearshiftoutofP(Park)
withthebrakepedaldepressed:
1.
Applytheparkingbrake,turnignitionkeyto
LOCK,thenremovethekey.
2.
InsertthekeyandturnittoOFF.Applythebrake
pedalandshifttoN(Neutral).
3.
Startthevehicle.
Ifitisnecessarytousetheaboveprocedureto
movethegearshift,itispossiblethatafusehas
blownorthevehicle’sbrakelampsarenotoperating
properly.RefertoFusesandrelaysintheRoadside
emergencieschapter.
Donotdriveyourvehicleuntilyouverify
thatthebrakelampsareworking.
Ifyourvehiclegetsstuckinmudorsnowitmaybe
rockedoutbyshiftingfromforwardandreverse
gears,stoppingbetweenshifts,inasteadypattern.
Presslightlyontheacceleratorineachgear.
Donotrockthevehicleformorethanafew
minutes.Thetransmissionandtiresmaybe
damagedortheenginemayoverheat.
Alwayssettheparkingbrakefullyandmake
surethegearshiftislatchedinP(Park).
Turnofftheignitionwheneveryouleaveyour
vehicle.
