modulation”.Signalmodulationisaprocessradio
stationsusetoincreasetheirstrength/volume
relativetootherstations.

Terrain.Hills,mountainsandtallbuildings
betweenyourvehicle’santennaandtheradio
stationsignalcancauseFMreceptionproblems.
StaticcanbecausedonAMstationsbypower
lines,electricfences,trafficlightsand
thunderstorms.Movingawayfromaninterfering
structure(outofits“shadow”)returnsyour
receptiontonormal.

Stationoverload.Weaksignalsaresometimes
capturedbystrongersignalswhenyoupassa
broadcasttower.Astrongersignalmay
