childrenintheU.S.andCanada.Ifsmallchildren
rideinyourvehicle(generallychildrenwhoarefour
yearsoldoryoungerandwhoweigh18kg[40lbs]
orless),youmustputtheminsafetyseatsmade
especiallyforchildren.Checkyourlocalandstateor
provinciallawsforspecificrequirementsregarding
thesafetyofchildreninyourvehicle.

herlapwhilethevehicleismoving.The
passengercannotprotectthechildfrominjuryina
collision.
Alwaysfollowtheinstructionsandwarningsthat
comewithanyinfantorchildrestraintyoumight

intherearseatofyourvehicle.Accidentstatistics
suggestthatchildrenaresaferwhenproperly
restrainedintherearseatingpositionsthaninthe

vehicle.
Iftheshoulderbeltportionofacombinationlapand
shoulderbeltcanbepositionedsoitdoesnotcross
orrestinfrontofthechild’sfaceorneck,thechild
shouldwearthelapandshoulderbelt.Movingthe
childclosertothecenterofthevehiclemayhelp
provideagoodshoulderbeltfit.
