Inspectthesafetybeltsystemsperiodicallytomake
suretheyworkproperlyandarenotdamaged.
Inspectthesafetybeltstomakesurethereareno
nicks,wearsorcuts,replacingifnecessary.All
safetybeltassemblies,includingretractors,buckles,
frontseatbeltbuckleassemblies,bucklesupport
assemblies(slidebar-ifequipped),shoulderbelt
heightadjusters(ifequipped),childsafetyseat
tetherbracketassemblies(ifequipped),and
attachinghardware,shouldbeinspectedaftera
collision.Fordrecommendsthatallsafetybelt
assembliesusedinvehiclesinvolvedinacollisionbe
replaced.However,ifthecollisionwasminoranda
qualifiedtechnicianfindsthatthebeltsdonotshow
damageandcontinuetooperateproperly,theydo
notneedtobereplaced.Safetybeltassembliesnot
inuseduringacollisionshouldalsobeinspected
andreplacedifeitherdamageorimproperoperation
isnoted.
Failuretoinspectandifnecessaryreplace
thesafetybeltassemblyundertheabove
conditionscouldresultinseverepersonalinjuries
intheeventofacollision.
RefertoCleaningandmaintainingthesafety
beltsintheMaintenanceandcaresection.
