yourvehicleisanFFV,thenthecharacterwillbelabeledasa“K.”
StandardsforfuelethanolhavebeendevelopedtoprovideFFVsthebest
possibleperformance,safetyanddurability.Toassistalcoholfuel
providersinmeetingthesestandards,guidelineshavealsobeen
developedwhichprescribe“EthanolFuelCompatible”dispensingstation
equipment.ThesestandardsandguidelinescanbeobtainedfromFord
MotorCompany.Fuelstationsmayapplytobecertifiedasmeetingthese
standards.However,notallstationsmeetthesestandardsatthistime.To
ensureproperoperationofyourFFVonfuelethanol,refuelatcertified
stations.
Ifyouareexperiencingaroughorrollingidleafterstart-upwiththe
outsidetemperatureabove27°C(80°F),theidleshouldimprovewithin
10
to30seconds.Iftheproblemspersistbelowthistemperature,see
yourdealeroraqualifiedservicetechnician.
Cleaner air
Fordendorsestheuseofreformulated“cleaner-burning”gasolinesto
improveairquality.
Running out of fuel
Avoidrunningoutoffuelbecausethissituationmayhaveanadverse
affectonpowertraincomponents.
Ifyouhaverunoutoffuel:

YoumayneedtocycletheignitionfromOFFtoONseveraltimesafter
refueling,toallowthefuelsystemtopumpthefuelfromthetankto
theengine.

indicatormaycomeon.Formoreinformationonthe
“ServiceEngineSoon”indicator,refertotheInstrumentation
chapter.
Fuel Filter
Forfuelfilterreplacement,seeyourdealeroraqualifiedservice
technician.Refertothescheduledmaintenanceguidefortheappropriate
intervalsforchangingthefuelfilter.
ReplacethefuelfilterwithanauthorizedMotorcraftpart.The
customerwarrantymaybevoidforanydamagetothefuelsystem
ifanauthorizedMotorcraftfuelfilterisnotused.
