ExceedingtheSafetyCertificationLabelaxleweightratinglimits
couldresultinsubstandardvehiclehandling,performance,
engine,transmissionand/orstructuraldamage,seriousdamagetothe
vehicle,lossofcontrolandpersonalinjury.
GCW(GrossCombinedWeight)–istheweightoftheloadedvehicle
(GVW)plustheweightofthefullyloadedtrailer.
GCWR(GrossCombinedWeightRating)–isthemaximumallowable
weightofthevehicleandtheloadedtrailer–includingallcargoand
passengers–thatthevehiclecanhandlewithoutriskingdamage.
(Important:Thetowingvehicle’sbrakingsystemisratedforoperationat
GVWR,notatGCWR.Separatefunctionalbrakesshouldbeusedforsafe
controloftowedvehiclesandfortrailersweighingmorethan680kg
[1,500
lbs]).TheGCWmustneverexceedtheGCWR.
MaximumLoadedTrailerWeight–isthehighestpossibleweightofa
fullyloadedtrailerthevehiclecantow.Itassumesavehiclewithonly
mandatoryoptions,nocargo(internalorexternal),atongueloadof
10
–15%(conventionaltrailer)orkingpinweightof15–25%(fifthwheel
trailer),anddriveronly(68kg[150lbs]).Consultyourdealership(or
theRVandTrailerTowingGuideprovidedbyyourdealership)for
moredetailedinformation.
TongueLoadorFifthWheelKingPinWeight–referstotheamount
oftheweightthatatrailerpushesdownonatrailerhitch.
Examples:Fora2268kg(5000lbs.)conventionaltrailer,multiply5000
by0.10and0.15toobtainapropertongueloadrangeof227to340kg
(500
to750lbs.).Foran5216kg(11,500lbs.)fifthwheeltrailer,
multiplyby0.15and0.25toobtainaproperkingpinloadrangeof782
to1304kg(1,725to2,875lbs.)
DonotexceedtheGVWRortheGAWRspecifiedonthe
certificationlabel.
