USING YOUR VEHICLE AS A STATIONARY POWER SOURCE
(PTO)
Someautomatictransmissionvehiclesmaybeequippedwitha
ЉTransmissionPowerTake-OffProvisionЉ,OptionCode62R.These
vehicleshaveaspecialtransmissionthatincludesaportonthelefthand
sidetomountanaftermarketPTO,aninternalPTOgear,andcalibration
forPTOusage.TheactualPTOandrelatedequipmentisnotofferedby
FordMotorCompany,butisinstalledbytheaftermarket.
ThePTOgearinthetransmissionwilldrivetheaftermarketPTOwhile
drivingthevehicle.Therefore,someadditionalgearnoisethatmayresult
isnormal.Also,thetransmissionupshiftanddownshiftscheduleswillbe
reducedbyabout15%andmayresultinafirmershiftfeelduringPTO
mobileapplications.

Note:PTOapplicationsdrawauxiliaryhorsepowerfromthepowertrain,
oftenwhilethevehicleisstationary.Inthisconditionthereislimited
coolingairflowthroughtheradiatorandaroundthevehiclethat
normallyoccurswhenavehicleismoving.Dependingonthelevelof
auxiliaryhorsepowerdrawandforhowlong,vehicleandsurrounding
environmentalconditions,andotherfactors,thiscancontributeto
elevatedtransmissionfluidtemperaturesandresultantacceleratedfluid
aging,fuelvaporover-pressurization,andotherconcerns.Fordtrucksare
fullyqualifiedforstationaryPTOoperationfor10minutesorlessof
continuousoperation.ForextendeddurationstationaryPTOoperation
(beyond10minutes)dieselengineisrecommended,andfurtherconsult
youraftermarketPTOinstaller.
DRIVING THROUGH WATER
Ifdrivingthroughdeeporstandingwaterisunavoidable,proceedvery
slowlyespeciallywhenthedepthisnotknown.Neverdrivethrough
waterthatishigherthanthebottomofthehubs(fortrucks)orthe
bottomofthewheelrims(forcars).Whendrivingthroughwater,
tractionorbrakecapabilitymaybelimited.Also,watermayenteryour
engine’sairintakeandseverelydamageyourengineoryourvehiclemay
stall.Drivingthroughdeepwaterwherethetransmissionvent
