Checkwhethercoolantorsteamisescapingfromunderthehoodor
fromtheenginecompartment.

Ifsteamiscomingfromtheenginecompartment:donotgonear
thefrontofthevehicle.Stoptheengine,thenturntheignitionswitch
totheONpositionwithoutstartingtheengine.Theradiatorcooling
fanswillstarttocooltheengine.
Ifneithercoolantnorsteamisescaping:openthehoodandidle
theengineuntilitcools.Ifthisdoesnotlowerthetemperature,stop
theengineandletitcool.

Checkthecoolantlevel.Ifitislow,lookforleaksintheradiator
hosesandconnections,heaterhosesandconnections,radiatorand
waterpump.
Ifyoufindaleakorotherdamage,orifcoolantisstillleaking,stopthe
engineandcallanAuthorizedMazdadealer.
SeeAddingcoolantintheMaintenanceandspecificationssection.If
youfindnoproblems,theengineiscoolandnoleaksareobvious,
carefullyaddcoolantasrequired.
WARNING: Whentheengineandradiatorarehot,scalding
coolantandsteammayshootoutunderpressureandcause
seriousinjury.Donotremovethecoolingsystemcapwhenthe
engineandradiatorarehot.
Note:Iftheenginecontinuestooverheatorfrequentlyoverheats,have
thecoolingsysteminspected.Theenginecouldbeseriouslydamaged
unlessrepairsaremade.
TEMPORARY SPARE TIRE INFORMATION
Yourvehiclemayhaveatemporaryorconventionalsparetire.The
temporarysparetireforyourvehicleislabeledassuch.Itissmallerthan
aregulartireandisdesignedforemergencyuseonly.Replacethistire
withafull-sizetireassoonaspossible.
Itisnotrecommendedthatthevehiclebeoperatedin4WDmodeswith
atemporaryspare.If4WDoperationisnecessary,donotoperateabove
speedsof16km/h(10mph)orfordistancesabove80km(50miles).
