WARNING: Whenliftingaplastic-casedbattery,excessive
pressureontheendwallscouldcauseacidtoflowthroughthe
ventcaps,resultinginpersonalinjuryand/ordamagetothe
vehicleorbattery.Liftthebatterywithabatterycarrierorwith
yourhandsonoppositecorners.
WARNING: Keepbatteriesoutofreachofchildren.Batteries
containsulfuricacid.Avoidcontactwithskin,eyesorclothing.
Shieldyoureyeswhenworkingnearthebatterytoprotect
againstpossiblesplashingofacidsolution.Incaseofacid
contactwithskinoreyes,flushimmediatelywithwaterfora
minimumof15minutesandgetpromptmedicalattention.If
acidisswallowed,callaphysicianimmediately.
WARNING: Batteryposts,terminalsandrelatedaccessories
containleadandleadcompounds.Washhandsafterhandling.
Becauseyourvehicle’sengineiselectronicallycontrolledbyacomputer,
somecontrolconditionsaremaintainedbypowerfromthebattery.When
thebatteryisdisconnectedoranewbatteryisinstalled,theenginemust
relearnitsidleandfueltrimstrategyforoptimumdriveabilityand
performance.Tobeginthisprocess:

PutthegearshiftinP(Park)(automatictransmission)ortheneutral
position(manualtransmission),turnoffallaccessoriesandstartthe
engine.

Allowtheenginetoidleforatleastoneminute.
TurntheA/Conandallowtheenginetoidleforatleastoneminute.
Drivethevehicletocompletetherelearningprocess.
NOTE:

Thevehiclemayneedtobedriventorelearntheidleandfueltrim
strategy.
•
Ifyoudonotallowtheenginetorelearnitsidletrim,theidle
qualityofyourvehiclemaybeadverselyaffecteduntiltheidle
trimiseventuallyrelearned.
Whenthebatteryisdisconnectedoranewbatteryinstalled,the
transmissionmustrelearnitsadaptivestrategy.Asaresultofthis,the
