theidealfit(center)toashoulderbeltuncomfortablyclosetotheneck
andashoulderbeltthatcouldslipofftheshoulder.Thedrawingsbelow
alsoshowhowthelapbeltshouldbelowandsnugacrossthechild’s
hips.
Iftheboosterseatslidesonthevehicleseat,placingarubberizedmesh
soldasshelforcarpetlinerundertheboosterseatmayimprovethis
condition.Donotintroduceanyitemthickerthanthisunderthebooster
seat.Checkwiththeboosterseatmanufacturer’sinstructions.
Theimportanceofshoulderbelts
Usingaboosterwithoutashoulderbeltincreasestheriskofachild’s
headhittingahardsurfaceinacollision.Forthisreason,youshould
neveruseaboosterseatwithalapbeltonly.Itisgenerallybesttousea
boosterseatwithlap/shoulderbeltsinthebackseat.
Moveachildtoadifferentseatinglocationiftheshoulderbeltdoesnot
staypositionedontheshoulderduringuse.
