Ifyoudriveinextremelycoldclimates(lessthan–34°F[–36°C]):

Itmaybenecessarytoincreasethecoolantconcentration
above50%.
•
NEVERincreasethecoolantconcentrationabove60%.
Increasedenginecoolantconcentrationsabove60%will
decreasetheoverheatprotectioncharacteristicsoftheengine
coolantandmaycauseenginedamage.
•
Refertothechartonthecoolantcontainertoensurethe
coolantconcentrationinyourvehiclewillprovideadequate
freezeprotectionatthetemperaturesinwhichyoudriveinthe
wintermonths.
Ifyoudriveinextremelyhotclimates:
•
Itisstillnecessarytomaintainthecoolantconcentration
above40%.
•
NEVERdecreasethecoolantconcentrationbelow40%.
Decreasedenginecoolantconcentrationsbelow40%will
decreasethecorrosion/freezeprotectioncharacteristicsofthe
enginecoolantandmaycauseenginedamage.
•
Refertothechartonthecoolantcontainertoensurethe
coolantconcentrationinyourvehiclewillprovideadequate
protectionatthetemperaturesinwhichyoudrive.
Vehiclesdrivenyear-roundinnon-extremeclimatesshouldusea50/50
mixtureofenginecoolantanddistilledwaterforoptimumcoolingsystem
andengineprotection.
What you should know about fail-safe cooling (if equipped)
Iftheenginecoolantsupplyisdepleted,thisfeatureallowsthevehicleto
bedriventemporarilybeforeincrementalcomponentdamageisincurred.
The“fail-safe”distancedependsonambienttemperatures,vehicleload
andterrain.
WARNING:Iffail-safecoolingactivates,pullofftheroadas
soonassafelypossible,andturntheengineoff,becausethe
enginemayautomaticallyshutoffwhiledrivingwithoutfurther
indication.
Howfail-safecoolingworks
Iftheenginereachesapresetover-temperaturecondition,theengine
willautomaticallyswitchtoalternatingcylinderoperation.Eachdisabled
cylinderactsasanairpumpandcoolstheengine.
