Passen gers  should   not  be  allow ed  to  rid e
in  the  cargo  area.  Person s  not  rid ing  in  a
seat  with  a  fasten ed  seat  belt  are  much
more  lik ely  to  suffer  seriou  s injury   in  a
collision  . Cargo  should   alw ays  be  secu red
to  preven t  it from   shiftin g  and  causin g
damage   to the   veh icle or  harm  to
passen gers.
When  possible,   put   child ren  in  the  rear   seat  of
you r  vehicle.  Accid ent  statistics   suggest   that
child ren  are  safer   when  prop  erly  restrained    in
the  rear   seating  positions    than  in  the  front
seating   positions.

Carefu lly  follow   all  of the  manufactu   rer’s
instru ction s  included   with   the  safety  seat
you  put  in  you r veh icle.  If  you  do  not
install   and  use  the  safety   seat  prop erly,
the  child  may  be  injured    in a  sudden   stop
or  collision .

Safety  belts   and  seats  can  becom e  hot  in  a
veh icle  that  has  been  closed   up  in  sunny
weath er;  they  could   burn  a  small  child .
Check  seat  covers   and  buckles   before   you
place  a  child  anywhere    near  them.
