Turn the wheels away from the curb and
movethevehiclebackuntilthecurbside
wheelgentlytouchesthecurb.
The power assisted steering is designed to
useahydraulicpump,drivenbytheengine,to
assiststeering.
IftheATPlampisON,thisindicates
that the automatic transmission P
(park)positionwillnotfunctionand
the transfer shift lever is in the N
position. Failure to engage the
transfershiftleverinHor4LOcould
result in the vehicle moving unex-
pectedly, resulting in serious per-
sonalinjuryorpropertydamage.

If the engine stops or drive belt breaks, you
willstillhavecontrolofthevehicle.However,
muchgreatersteeringeffortisneeded,espe-
ciallyinsharpturnsoratlowspeeds.
Turnthewheelstowardthesideoftheroad
so the vehicle will move away from the
centeroftheroadifitmoves.

TurntheignitionkeytotheLOCKposition
andremovethekey.
WARNING
If the engine is not running or is
turned off while driving, the power
assistforthesteeringwillnotwork.
Steeringwillbemuchhardertoop-
erate.

To help prevent the vehicle from rolling
into the street when parked on a sloping
driveway,itisagoodpracticetoturnthe
wheelsasillustrated.

Was looking for a way to disable the passenger airbag so I could have my dog beside me while traveling but it does not seem possible.
