Theanti-lockbrakesystemwillnotoperateat
speedsbelow3to6MPH(5to10km/h)to

anti-lock system senses that one or more
wheels are close to locking up, the actuator
(underthehood)rapidlyappliesandreleases
hydraulic pressure (like pumping the brakes
very quickly). While the actuator is working,
you may feel a pulsation in the brake pedal
andhearanoiseorvibrationfromtheactuator
underthehood.Thisisnormalandindicates
thattheanti-locksystemisworkingproperly.
However,thepulsationmayindicatethatroad
conditions are hazardous and extra care is
requiredwhiledriving.
Self-testfeature
WARNING
The anti-lock brake system consists of elec-
tronicsensors,electricpumps,andhydraulic
solenoids controlled by a computer. The
computerhasabuilt-indiagnosticfeaturethat
teststhesystemeachtimeyoustarttheengine
and move the vehicle at a low speed in
forwardorreverse.Whentheself-testoccurs,
you may hear a clank noise and/or feel a
pulsation in the brake pedal. This is normal
andisnotanindicationofanymalfunction.If
the computer senses any malfunction, it
switchestheanti-lockbrakesystemOFFand
turns on the ABS brake warning light in the
dashboard.Thebrakesystemwillthenbehave
normally,butwithoutanti-lockassistance.
The anti-lock brake system is a so-
phisticateddevice,butitcannotpre-
vent accidents resulting from care-
less or dangerous driving tech-
niques.Itcanhelpmaintainvehicle
control during braking on slippery
surfaces, but remember that the
stopping distance on slippery sur-
faceswillbelongerthanonnormal
surfaces, even with the anti-lock
system. Stopping distances may
also be longer on rough, gravel or
snow covered roads, or if you are
usingtirechains.Alwaysmaintaina
safe distance from the vehicle in
frontofyou.Ultimately,therespon-

ignition key, restart the engine and
drive the vehicle at speeds above 20

Was looking for a way to disable the passenger airbag so I could have my dog beside me while traveling but it does not seem possible.
