Wheel alignment and balance If the
vehiclepullstoeithersidewhiledrivingona
straightandlevelroad,orifyoudetectuneven
orabnormaltirewear,theremaybeaneedfor

checked on a regular basis, such as when
performingperiodicmaintenance,cleaningthe

Outsidethevehicle
Lights*Makesurethattheheadlights,stop
lights,taillights,turnsignallights,andother
lightsarealloperatingproperlyandinstalled
securely.Alsocheckheadlightaim.
Ifthesteeringwheelorseatvibratesatnormal
highway speeds, wheel balancing may be
needed.
Themaintenanceitemslistedhereshouldbe
performedfromtimetotime,unlessotherwise
specified.
Windshield wiper blades* Check for
cracksorweariftheydonotwipeproperly.
Warning lights and buzzers/chimes
Make sure that all warning lights and
buzzers/chimesareoperatingproperly.
Tires* Check the pressure with a gauge
periodicallywhenataservicestation,includ-
ing the spare, and adjust to the specified
pressure if necessary. Check carefully for
damage,cutsorexcessivewear.
Doors and engine hood Check that all
doorsandtheenginehood,operateproperly.
Also ensure that all latches lock securely.
Lubricate hinges and latches if necessary.
Makesurethatthesecondarylatchkeepsthe
hoodfromopeningwhentheprimarylatchis
released.
Windshield wiper and washer* Check
that the wipers and washer operate properly
andthatthewipersdonotstreak.
Wheelnuts*Whencheckingthetires,make
surenonutsaremissing,andcheckforany
loosenuts.Tightenifnecessary.
Windshield defroster Check that the air
comes out of the defroster outlets properly
andinsufficientquantitywhenoperatingthe
heaterorairconditioner.
Tirerotation*Tiresshouldberotatedevery
