Thepurposeofelectronictractioncontrolisto
aidtractionwhenonewheelonanaxlespins
whilsttheotherstillhasgoodgrip,e.g,ifone
sideofthevehicleisoniceandtheotherison
tarmac.Thesystemworksbyapplyingthe
braketoaspinningwheelinordertotransfer
torquetotheothersideoftheaxle.
NOTE:Tractioncontrolonlyoperatesbelow
approximately100km/h.
Theinstrumentpanelhasatractioncontrol
warninglight(TC)and,whenappropriate,
tractioncontrolmessageswillalsobe
displayedinthemessagecentre.
Thewarninglightilluminates
wheneverthesystemisactive
(foraminimumof2seconds)
andisaccompaniedbythemessagecentre
displaying’TRACTION’.Intheunlikelyevent
thattractioncontrolisusedcontinuouslyfor
toolong(inexcessofapproximately1
minute),thenthecontrolunitshutsdownto
allowcoolingandthewarninglightflashesfor
atleasttenseconds;thisisaccompaniedby
themessagecentredisplaying’TRACTION
OVERHEAT’.
Ifthereisafaultwiththesystem,thenthe
warninglightwillilluminatecontinuouslyand
themessagecentredisplays’TRACTION
FAILURE’.Ifthisoccurs,youshouldcontacta
LandRoverdealerattheearliestopportunity.
