Inacollision,unrestrainedpassengerscan
bethrownaroundinsidethevehicle,or
possiblythrownoutofthevehicle,resulting
ininjurytothemselvesandtoother
occupants.DONOTtakechanceswith
safety!
Seatbeltsaredesignedtobearuponthe
bonystructureofthebody,andshouldbe
wornlowacrossthepelvisorthepelvis,
chestandshoulders,asapplicable.Wearing
thelapsectionofthebeltacrossthe
abdominalareaMUSTbeavoided.
Seatbeltsshouldbeadjustedasfirmly
aspossible,consistentwithcomfort,to
providetheprotectionforwhichthey
havebeendesigned.Aslackbeltwill
greatlyreducetheprotectionaffordedto
thewearer.

DOmakesurethatALLpassengersare
securelystrappedinatalltimes;evenfor
theshortestjourneys.

ALWAYSfitthelapbeltstrapaslowon
thehipsaspossible(neveracrossthe
abdomen)andensurethatthediagonal
beltpassesacrosstheshoulderwithout
slippingofforpressingontheneck.
Beltsshouldnotbewornwiththestraps
twisted.

Careshouldbetakentoavoid
contaminationofthewebbingwith
polishes,oilsandchemicals,and
particularlybatteryacid.Cleaningmay
safelybecarriedoutusingmildsoap
andwater.Thebeltshouldbereplacedif
webbingbecomesfrayed,contaminated
ordamaged.

DONOTslackenthewebbingbypulling
thebeltawayfromthebody-tobefully
effective,theseatbeltmustremaininfull
contactwiththebodyatalltimes.

DOhaveseatbeltscheckedifthevehicleis
involvedinanaccident.
DONOTallowoccupantstotravelwiththe
seatbacksreclinedsteeplyrearwards.
Optimumbenefitisobtainedfromtheseat
beltwiththeseatbackanglesetto15
degreesfromtheupright(vertical)
position.

assemblyafterithasbeenwornina
severeimpactevenifdamagetothe
assemblyisnotobvious
Eachbeltassemblymustonlybeusedby
oneoccupant,itisdangeroustoputa
beltaroundachildbeingcarriedonthe
occupant’ slap.

DOusetheseatbeltstosecurelargeitems
ofluggagethataretobecarriedonthe
seats-intheeventofanaccident,
insecureitemsbecomeflyingmissiles
capableofcausingseriousinjury.
Pregnantwomenshouldaskadoctorfor
adviceaboutthesafestwaytowearseat
belts.
