Transaxle Reset Mode
Gear Ranges
Thetransaxleismonitoredforabnormalconditions.Ifa
conditionisdetectedthatcouldcausedamage,thetrans-
axleautomaticallyshiftsintosecondgear.Thetransaxle
remainsinsecondgeardespitetheforwardgearselected.
Park (P), Reverse (R), and Neutral (N) will continue to
operate.ThisResetfeatureallowsthevehicletobedriven
toadealerforservicewithoutdamagingthetransaxle.
“P”Park
NOTE: If the key is in the RUN position, you must
pressthebrakepedaltoshiftoutofthe“P”Parkposition.
Supplementstheparkingbrakebylockingthetransaxle.
Enginecanbestartedinthisrange.Neverattempttouse
PARKwhilevehicleisinmotion.
Iftheproblemhasbeenmomentary,thetransaxlecanbe
resettoregainallforwardgears.
Applyparkingbrakewhenleavingvehicleinthisrange.
“R”Reverse
Shiftintothisrangeonlyafterthevehiclehascometoa
completestop.

mend that you visit a dealer at your earliest possible
convenience. Your dealer has diagnostic equipment to
determineiftheproblemcouldrecur.
StopthevehicleandshiftintoPARK(P).
TurnthekeytoOFFthenstarttheengine.
Shiftinto“D”andresumedriving.
“N”Neutral
Theenginemaybestartedinthisrange.Usethisrange
forstartingyourvehicleifitismovingorisbeingtowed.
“D”Overdrive
This range should be used for most city and highway
driving.Itprovidessmoothestupshiftsanddownshifts
andbestfueleconomy.
Ifthetransaxlecannotbereset,dealerserviceisrequired.
