BRAKE SYSTEM

Yourvehicleisequippedwithpowerbrakesasstandard
equipment. In the event you lose power assist for any
reason(forexample,repeatedbrakeapplicationswiththe
engine off), the brakes will still function. The effort
required to brake the vehicle will be substantially in-
creasedoverthatrequiredwiththepowersystemoper-
ating.

Leaving children in a vehicle unattended is dan-
gerousforseveralreasons.Achildorotherscould
be injured. Children should be warned not to
touchtheparkingbrakeorthegearselector.Don’t
leave the keys in the ignition. A child could
operate power windows, other controls, or move
thevehicle.
Ifeitherofthetwohydraulicsystemslosenormalcapa-
bility,theremainingsystemwillstillfunctionwithsome
lossofoverallbrakingeffectiveness.Thiswillbeevident
by increased pedal travel during application, greater
pedalforcerequiredtosloworstop,andactivationofthe
BrakeWarningLampduringbrakeuse.

Be sure the parking brake is fully disengaged
beforedriving;failuretodosocanleadtobrake
failureandanaccident.
