All gasoline sold in the United States is required to
contain effective detergent additives. Use of additional
detergentsorotheradditivesisnotneededundernormal
conditionsandwouldresultinunnecessarycost.There-
fore,youshouldnothavetoaddanythingtothefuel.

Sulfur in Gasoline
IftheMalfunctionIndicatorLightisflashing,imme-
diateserviceisrequired.SeetheOnBoardDiagnos-
tics paragraph in the Maintenance section of this 5
manual.
If you live in the Northeast United States, your vehicle
mayhavebeendesignedtomeetCalifornialowemission
standards with cleaner burning California reformulated
gasolinewithlowsulfur.Ifsuchfuelsarenotavailablein
states adopting California emission standards, your ve-
hiclewilloperatesatisfactorilyonfuelsmeetingFederal
specifications,butemissioncontrolsystemperformance
maybeadverselyaffected.
ADDING FUEL
Fuel Filler Cap (Gas Cap)
Thegascapisbehindthefuelfillerdoorontheleftside
ofthevehicle.Ifthegascapislostordamaged,besure
thereplacementcapisforusewiththisvehicle.
GasolinesoldoutsideofCaliforniaispermittedtohave
highersulfurlevelswhichmayaffecttheperformanceof
the vehicle’s catalytic converter. This may cause the
MalfunctionIndicatorLighttoilluminate.Themanufac-
turer recommends that you try a different brand of
