Stowingtheflat/sparetire
Note:Failuretofollowsparetirestowageinstructionsmayresultin
failureofcableorlossofsparetire.
1.
Laythetireonthegroundwiththevalvestemfacinginthedirection
specifiedontheTireChangingInstructionslocatedwiththejack
hardware.
2.
Slidethewheelpartiallyunderthevehicleandinstalltheretainer
throughthewheelcenter.Pullonthecabletoalignthecomponentsat
theendofthecable.
3.
Turnthejackhandleclockwiseuntilthetireisraisedtoitsstowed
positionunderneaththevehicle.Theefforttoturnthejackhandle
increasessignificantlyandthesparetirecarrierratchetsorslipswhen
thetireisraisedtothemaximumtightness.Tightentothebestofyour
ability,tothepointwheretheratchet/slipoccurs,ifpossible.Thespare
tirecarrierwillnotallowyoutoovertighten.Ifthesparetirecarrier
ratchetsorslipswithlittleeffort,takethevehicletoyourdealerfor
assistanceatyourearliestconvenience.
4.
Checkthatthetireliesflatagainsttheframeandisproperly
tightened.Trytopushorpull,thenturnthetiretobesureitwillnot
move.Loosenandretighten,ifnecessary.Failuretoproperlystowthe
sparetiremayresultinfailureofthewinchcableandlossofthetire.
5.
Repeatthistightnesscheckprocedurewhenservicingthesparetire
pressure(everysixmonths,perScheduledMaintenanceGuide),orat
anytimethatthesparetireisdisturbedthroughserviceofother
components.
6.
Ifremoved,installthesparetirelock(ifequipped)intothebumper
drivetubewiththesparetirelockkey(ifequipped)andjackhandle.
WHEEL LUG NUT TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
Onvehiclesequippedwithsinglerearwheels,retightenthelugnutsto
thespecifiedtorqueat500miles(800km)afteranywheeldisturbance
(tirerotation,changingaflattire,wheelremoval,etc.).
Onvehiclesequippedwithdualrearwheels,retightenthewheellugnuts
tothespecifiedtorqueat100miles(160km),andagainat500miles
(800
km)ofnewvehicleoperationandafteranywheeldisturbance(tire
rotation,changingaflattire,wheelremoval,etc.).
