Normalarea(normal)-the
transmissionfluidiswithinthe
normaloperatingtemperature
(between“H”and“C”).
Yellowarea(warning)—the
transmissionfluidishigherthan
normaloperatingtemperature.This
canbecausedbyspecialoperation
conditions(i.e.snowplowing,towing
oroffroaduse).RefertoSpecial
OperatingConditionsinthe
ScheduledMaintenanceGuidefor
instructions.Operatingthetransmissionforextendedperiodsoftime
withthegaugeintheyellowareamaycauseinternaltransmission
damage.
Alteringtheseverityofthedrivingconditionsisrecommendedtolower
thetransmissiontemperatureintothenormalrange.
Redarea(overtemperature)—
thetransmissionfluidisoverheating.
Stopthevehicletoallowthe
temperaturetoreturntonormal
range.
IfthegaugeisoperatingintheYelloworRedarea,stopthevehicleand
verifytheairflowisnotrestrictedsuchassnowordebrisblockingairflow
throughthegrill.Ifthegaugecontinuestoshowhightemperatures,see
yourForddealer.
