trailerwheellock-up.Iftowingaheaviertrailer,trailerwheellockupmay
notbeattainableevenwiththemaximumGAINsettingof10.
Explanationofinstrumentclustermessages:
TheTBCinteractswiththeinstrumentclustermessagecenter.These
messages,accompaniedbyasinglechime,willbedisplayedwhenthe
TBCdeterminesamalfunctioninthetrailerconnection,TBCsystem,or
inthetrailer.Thesemessagesarelistedbelow:
TRAILERDISCONNECTED(ifequippedwithmessagecenter)or
CHECKTRAILER(ifequippedwithminimessagecenter):This
messageisdisplayedwhenatrailerconnectionwasdeterminedandthen
adisconnection,eitherintentionallyorunintentionally,hasbeensensed
duringagivenignitioncycle.Thismessageisalsodisplayedduring
manualactivationwithoutatrailerconnected.
TBCFAULT:Thismessageisdisplayedinresponsetofaultssensedby
theTBC.Intheeventthismessageisseen,pleasetakeyourvehicleto
anauthorizedForddealershipfordiagnosisandrepair.TheTBCmaystill
function,butperformancemaybedegraded.
TRAILERFAULT:TheTBCiscapableofdeterminingcertainfaultsin
thevehiclewiringandtrailerwiring/brakesystem.Thismessageis
displayedwhenoneofthefollowingfaultshasoccurred:

Shortcircuitontheelectricbrakeoutputwire:IftheTRAILER
FAULTmessageisdisplayedwithnotrailerconnected,theproblemis
withthevehiclewiringfromtheTBCtothe7–pinconnectorinthe
bumper.Ifthemessageisonlydisplayedwithatrailerconnected,the
problemisrelatedtothetrailerwiring;consultyourtrailerdealerfor
assistance.

Trailerbrakeoverload:Thetrailerbrakesaredrawingtoomuch
current;consultyourtrailerdealerforassistance.
Note:YourTBCcanbediagnosedbyyourauthorizedForddealershipto
determineexactlywhichtrailerfaulthasoccurred;however,ifthefault
iswiththetrailerthisdiagnosisisnotcoveredunderyourFord
warranty.
