Loading
Keepthecenter-of-gravitylowforbesthandling.
Trailerloadsshouldbeevenlydistributedfronttobackandleftto
right.
Theloaddistributionwithinthetrailershouldbesuchthat10%–15%
ofthetrailerweightisonthehitch.(15%–25%for5th-wheelor
goosenecktowing.)
Neverexceedtruck,trailer,receiver,ball,tongue,tireorcoupler
loadingrecommendations.
Braking
Thetrailerbrakesmustbeinspectedandservicedatintervals
specifiedbythemanufacturer.Thisincludestheshoes,drumand
trailerbrakemagnets.
Electricbrakesalsorequireperiodicadjustmenttokeeptheshoes
properlyspaced.Ifthebrakesgethotwhendrivingoriftheywillnot
hold,chancesarethattheyneedadjustment.
Anticipatetheneedtostop;allowmuchmoredistanceandtimeto
stopthannormal.
Donotapplythetrailerbrakesforextendedperiodsoftimeasthey
canoverheatandloseeffectiveness.
Backingup
Practicebackingup,particularlyifyouareanovice.Turnthesteering
wheeltotherighttomovethetrailer’srearendtotheright.
Sharpsteeringmovementsmaycausethetrailertojackknifeorgoout
ofcontrol.
Tires
Alltrailertiresshouldbeofthesamesize,andconstruction.
Selecttiresthatmeetthetrailerloadingrequirements.
Alwayschecktowvehicleandtrailertirepressurebeforetowing.
Launching or retrieving a  boat
Whenbackingdownarampduringboatlaunchingorretrieval,
Donotallowthestaticwaterleveltoriseabovethebottomedgeof
therearbumper.
Donotallowwavestobreakhigherthan6inches(15cm)abovethe
bottomedgeoftherearbumper.
