STARTINGANDOPERATING
Over 40 autom obile manu factu rers arou nd the world
have issu ed and end orsed consistent gasoline specifica-
tions (the World Wide Fuel Charter, WWFC) to define
fuel prop erties necessary to deliver enhanced emissions,
engine perform ance, and durability for you r vehicle. The
manu factu rer recom mend s the use of gasolines that meet
the WWFC specifications if they are available.
Gasoline/OxygenateBlends
Some fuel suppliers blend unlead ed gasoline with oxy-
genates such as 10% ethanol, MTBE, and ETBE. Oxygen-
ates are requ ired in som e areas of the country during the
winter months to red uce carbon monoxid e emissions.
Fuels blend ed with these oxygenates may be used in
you r vehicle.
ReformulatedGasoline
Many areas of the country requ ire the use of cleaner
burning gasoline referred to as “Reform ulated Gasoline”.

Reform ulated gasolines contain oxygenates, and are spe-
cifically blend ed to red uce vehicle emissions and im-
prove air quality.
The manu factu rer supports the use of reform ulated gaso-
lines. Prop erly blend ed reform ulated gasolines will pro-
vid e excellent perform ance and durability of engine and
fuel system components.
Problem s that resu lt from using methanol/ gasoline
blend s are not the resp onsibility of the manu factu rer.
While MTBE is an oxygenate made from Methanol, it
does not have the negative effects of Methanol.
