If you r vehicle becom es stu ck in mud, sand or snow, it
can often be moved by a rocking motion. Turn you r
steering wheel right and left to clear the area arou nd the
front wheels. Then shift back and forth betw een Reverse
and First gear. Usu ally the least accelerator pedal pres-
sure to maintain the rocking motion withou t spinning the
wheels is most effective.
CAUTION!
Racing the engine or spinning the wheels too fast
mayleadtotransaxleoverheatingandfailure.Itcan
alsodamagethetires.Donotspinthewheelsabove

mph(55km/h).

Fast spinning tires can be dangerous. Forces gener-
atedbyexcessivewheelspeedsmaycausetiredam-
age or failure. A tire could explode and injure
someone. Do not spin your vehicle’s wheels faster
than35mph(55km/h)whenyouarestuck.Anddon’t
letanyonenearaspinningwheel,nomatterwhatthe
speed.
Your vehicle may be tow ed und er the follow ing cond i-
tions: The steering column must be unlocked and the
gear selector must be in NEUTRAL, the distance to be
tow ed must not exceed 100 miles (160 km), and the
tow ing speed must not exceed 44 mph (72 km/ h). If the
transaxle is not operative, or if the vehicle is to be tow ed
more than 100 miles (160 km), the vehicle must be tow ed
with the front wheels off the grou nd to avoid damage to
the transaxle.
