INSPECTING AND INFLATING YOUR TIRES
Safeoperationofyourvehiclerequiresthatyourtiresareproperly
inflated.Rememberthatatirecanloseuptohalfofitsairpressure
withoutappearingflat.
Everydaybeforeyoudrive,check
yourtires.Ifonelookslowerthan
theothers,useatiregaugetocheck
pressureofalltiresandadjustif
required.
Atleastonceamonthandbefore
longtrips,inspecteachtireand
checkthetirepressurewithatire
gauge(includingspare,ifequipped).
Inflatealltirestotheinflation
pressurerecommendedbyMazda.
Inspecting your tires
Periodicallyinspectthetiretreadsforunevenorexcessivewearand
removestones,nails,glassorotherobjectsthatmaybewedgedinthe
treadgrooves.Checkforholesorcutsthatmaypermitairleakagefrom
thetireandmakenecessaryrepairs.
Alsoinspectthetiresidewallsforcuts,bruisesandotherdamage.If
internaldamagetothetireissuspected,havethetiredemountedand
inspectedincaseitneedstoberepairedorreplaced.Foryoursafety,
tiresthataredamagedshouldnotbeusedbecausetheyaremorelikely
toblowoutorfail.Tirescanbedamagedduringoff-roaduse,so
inspectionafteroff-roaduseisalsorecommended.
Inflating your tires
Useatiregaugetocheckthetireinflationpressure,includingthespare
(ifequipped),atleastmonthlyandbeforelongtrips.Youarestrongly
urgedtobuyareliabletirepressuregauge,asautomaticservicestation
gaugesmaybeinaccurate.Mazdarecommendstheuseofadigitalordial
typetirepressuregaugeratherthanasticktypetirepressuregauge.
Usetherecommendedcoldinflationpressureforoptimumtire
performanceandwear.Under-inflationorover-inflationmaycause
uneventreadwearpatterns.
NOTE:Ifyouaredrivingthevehicleatitsmaximumweightload,make
surethetireinflationpressureiscorrectfortheweightloadonthetires.
