Children) attachments for child seat anchors
Somechildsafetyseatshavetworigidorwebbingmountedattachments
thatconnecttotwoanchorsatcertainseatingpositionsinyourvehicle.
Thistypeofchildseateliminatestheneedtousesafetybeltstoattach
thechildseat.Forforward-facingchildseats,thetetherstrapmustalso
beattachedtothepropertetheranchor.SeeAttachingsafetyseatswith
tetherstrapsinthischapter.
YourvehiclehasLATCHanchorsforchildseatinstallationatthe
followinglocations:
Theanchorsonbothsidesofthe
centeroftherearseatareprovided
primarilyforchildseatsatthe
outboardseats,andarefurther
apartthanthepairsoflower
anchorsforchildseatinstallationat
otherseats.Achildseatwithrigid
LATCHattachmentscannotbe
installedatthecenterrearseat.
AchildseatwithLATCHattachmentsonbeltwebbingcanbeusedat
thecenterrearseatunlessachildseatatanoutboardrearseatis
attachedtooneoftheseloweranchors.Installachildseatontothe
loweranchorsatthecenterrearseatONLYIFthechildrestraint
manufacturerrecommendsthatthechildseatcanbeinstalledtoanchors
thatarespacedupto20in(500mm)apart.
NeverattachtwoLATCHchildsafetyseatstothesameanchor.
Inacrash,oneanchormaynotbestrongenoughtoholdtwo
childsafetyseatattachmentsandmaybreak,causingseriousinjuryor
death.
