TheTirePressureMonitoringSystemisNOTasubstitutefor
manuallycheckingtirepressure.Thetirepressureshouldbe
checkedperiodically(atleastmonthly)usingatiregauge,see
Inflatingyourtiresinthischapter.Failuretoproperlymaintainyour
tirepressurecouldincreasetheriskoftirefailure,lossofcontrol,
vehiclerolloverandpersonalinjury.
ChangingtireswithTPMS
Eachroadtireisequippedwith
atirepressuresensorfastened
totheinsiderimofthewheel.
Thepressuresensoriscovered
bythetireandisnotvisible
unlessthetireisremoved.The
pressuresensorislocated
opposite(180degrees)fromthe
valvestem.Caremustbetaken
whenchangingthetiretoavoid
damagingthesensor.Itis
recommendedthatyoualwayshave
yourtiresservicedbyanauthorized
dealer.
Thetirepressureshouldbechecked
periodically(atleastmonthly)using
anaccuratetiregauge,referto
Inflatingyourtiresinthischapter.

TheTirePressureMonitoringSystemmeasurespressureinyourfour
roadtiresandsendsthetirepressurereadingstoyourvehicle.TheLow
TirePressureWarningLampwillturnONifthetirepressureis
significantlylow.Oncethelightisilluminated,yourtiresareunder
inflatedandneedtobeinflatedtothemanufacturer’srecommendedtire
pressure.EvenifthelightturnsONandashorttimelaterturnsOFF,
