vehicleisnotreadyforI/Mtesting,thefollowingdrivingcycleconsisting
ofmixedcityandhighwaydrivingmaybeperformed:

minutesofsteadydrivingonanexpressway/highwayfollowedby20
minutesofstop-and-godrivingwithatleastfour30-secondidleperiods.
Allowthevehicletositforatleasteighthourswithoutstartingthe
engine.Then,starttheengineandcompletetheabovedrivingcycle.The
enginemustwarmuptoitsnormaloperatingtemperature.Oncestarted,
donotturnofftheengineuntiltheabovedrivingcycleiscomplete.If
thevehicleisstillnotreadyforI/Mtesting,theabovedrivingcyclewill
havetoberepeated.
BRAKE/CLUTCH FLUID
Brakeandclutchsystemsaresuppliedfromthesamereservoir.
Thefluidlevelwilldropslowlyas
thebrakeswear,andwillrisewhen
thebrakecomponentsarereplaced.
Fluidlevelsbetweenthe“MIN”and
“MAX”linesarewithinthenormal
operatingrange;thereisnoneedto
addfluid.Ifthefluidlevelsare
outsideofthenormaloperating
rangetheperformanceofthe
systemcouldbecompromised;seek
servicefromyourauthorizeddealer
immediately.
TRANSMISSION FLUID
Checking automatic transmission fluid (if equipped)
Refertoyourscheduledmaintenanceinformationforscheduled
intervalsforfluidchecksandchanges.Yourtransaxledoesnotconsume
fluid.However,thefluidlevelshouldbecheckedifthetransaxleisnot
workingproperly,i.e.,ifthetransaxleslipsorshiftsslowlyorifyou
noticesomesignoffluidleakage.
Automatictransmissionfluidexpandswhenwarmed.Toobtainan
accuratefluidcheck,drivethevehicleuntilitiswarmedup
(approximately20miles[30km]).Ifyourvehiclehasbeen
operatedforanextendedperiodathighspeeds,incitytraffic
duringhotweatherorpullingatrailer,thevehicleshouldbe
turnedoffforabout30minutestoallowfluidtocoolbefore
checking.
