andattempttomoveitsidetoside
andforwardandback.Thereshould
benomorethan1inch(2.5cm)of
movementforproperinstallation.
FordrecommendscheckingwithaNHTSACertifiedChildPassenger
SafetyTechnician(CPST)tomakecertainthechildrestraintisproperly
installed.InCanada,checkwithyourlocalSt.JohnAmbulanceofficefor
referraltoaCPST.
Attaching child safety seats with LATCH (Lower Anchors and
Tethers for CHildren) attachments
TheLATCHsystemiscomposedofthreevehicleanchorpoints:two(2)
loweranchorslocatedwherethevehicleseatbackandseatcushionmeet
(calledthe“seatbight”)andone(1)toptetheranchorlocatedbehind
thatseatingposition.
LATCHcompatiblechildsafetyseatshavetworigidorwebbingmounted
attachmentsthatconnecttothetwoloweranchorsattheLATCH
equippedseatingpositionsinyourvehicle.Thistypeofattachment
methodeliminatestheneedtousesafetybeltstoattachthechildseat,
howeverthesafetybeltcanstillbeusedtoattachthechildseat.For
forward-facingchildseats,thetoptetherstrapmustalsobeattachedto
thepropertoptetheranchor,ifatoptetherstraphasbeenprovided
withyourchildseat.FordMotorCompanyrecommendstheuseofa
