TheBLISisaconveniencefeature
thataidsthedriverinassessing
whetheravehicleiswithinanarea
oneithersideofthevehicle
extendingrearwardfromtheoutside
mirrorstoapproximately10feet
(threemeters)beyondthebumper.
Thisareaisreferredtoastheblind
zone.TheBLISwillalertthedriver
tothepresenceofmotorized
vehiclesintheseareaswhiledriving
onroadsandfreeways.
Thesystemisnotdesignedto
preventcontactwithothervehicles
orobjects.Thesystemisdesigned
toprovideawarningtoassistthe
driverindetectingvehiclesintheblindzones.Thesystemwillnotdetect
infrastructure,pedestrians,orcyclists.
WARNING:Tohelpavoidinjuries,NEVERusetheBLISasa
replacementforusingthesideandrearviewmirrorsandlooking
overyourshoulderbeforechanginglanes.BLISisnotareplacement
forcarefuldrivingandonlyanassist.
TheBLIShasanyellowindicator
(alsoreferredtoasthealert)
locatedintheleftandrightexterior
mirrors.Whenthevehicleisstarted,
theBLISautomaticallyilluminates
bothindicatorsforseveralseconds
indicatingthesystemisoperating.
Thefirsttimeyouplacethe
transmissioninD(Drive)afterstartingtheengineanddriveforwardata
speedgreaterthan3mph(5km/h)theBLISbecomesactive.
Afterwards,theBLISremainsactiveforallspeedsincluding0mph
(0
km/h).BLISisalsoactiveifthetransmissionisplacedinN
(Neutral).IfthetransmissionisshiftedoutofD(Drive)orN(Neutral)
thesystemwillentertheCTAmode(seeCTAoperationbelow).Once
shiftedbackintoD(Drive)theBLISmodewillactivateoncedriven
above3mph(5km/h).
