Checkingautomatictransmissionfluidatnormaloperating
temperature(140°F-158°F[60°C-70°C])
Automatictransmissionfluidexpandswhenwarmed.Toobtainan
accuratefluidcheck,drivethevehicleuntilitiswarmedup
(approximately20miles[30km])untiltheenginecoolantgauge
indicatesnormaloperatingtemperature.Ifyourvehiclehasbeen
operatedforanextendedperiodathighspeeds,incitytraffic
duringhotweatherorpullingatrailer,thevehicleshouldbe
turnedoffforabout30minutestoallowfluidtocoolbefore
checking.

Drivethevehicle20miles(30km)oruntilthecoolantgaugeindicates
normaloperatingtemperature.

ranges.Allowsufficienttimeforeachgeartoengage(approximately

Installthedipstickmakingsureitisfullyseatedinthefillertube.
Removethedipstickandinspect
thefluidlevel.Thefluidshouldread
withinthehotrangeonthedipstick
ifatnormaloperatingtemperature
(140°F-158°F
[60°C-70°C]).
Checkingautomatictransmissionfluidatcooltemperature
(59°F-77°F
[15°C-25°C])
Ifafluidcheckisnecessaryatalow
fluidtemperature(59°F-77°F
[15°C-25°C]),
performthecheck
usingthecoldrangeonthedipstick.
However,thefluidmustbe
re-checkedattheproperfluidtemperature.
