bepositionedsoitdoesnotcrossorrestinfrontofthechild’sfaceor
neck,thechildshouldwearthelapandshoulderbelt.Movingthechild
closertothecenterofthevehiclemayhelpprovideagoodshoulderbelt
fit.
Donotleavechildren,unreliableadults,orpetsunattendedin
yourvehicle.
Toimprovethefitoflapandshoulderbeltsonchildrenwhohave
outgrownchildsafetyseats,Fordrecommendsuseofabelt-positioning
boosterseatthatislabelledasconformingtoallapplicableFederalmotor
vehiclesafetystandards.Belt-positioningboosterseatsraisethechild
andprovideashorter,firmerseatingcushionthatencouragessafer
seatingpostureandbetterfitoflapandshoulderbeltsonthechild.
Abelt-positioningboosterseatshouldbeusediftheshoulderbeltrests
infrontofthechild’sfaceorneck,orifthelapbeltdoesnotfitsnugly
onboththighs,orifthethighsaretooshorttoletthechildsitallthe
waybackontheseatcushionwhenthelowerlegshangovertheedgeof
theseatcushion.Youmaywishtodiscussthespecialneedsofyourchild
withyourpediatrician.
